The Olpas sludge cake dry solids measurement system consists of the Olpas dataprocessor with an ultrasound transducer clamp-on system. The measurement device is capable of measuring sludge cake density in concentrations from 10-40 %DS.

Measuring sludge cake moisture content in wastewater treatment plants is a challenging task.
This is due to the fact that sludge cake is often not compacted and is discharged from the dewatering installation with sludge conveyors and screws. Existing inline measurements, such as microwave-based density measurements, often fail to accurately determine sludge density due to the granular nature of sludge cake and the presence of large air pockets.
The Olpas ultrasound technology provides a fouling-resistant measurement of the sludge dry solids content, independent of sludge type or morphology.
