Water monitoring: Suspended Sediment Concentration (SSC)

Olpas SSC sensors use a novel proprietary 3-8 Mhz Accoustic Backscattering measurement technology for an exceptional wide coverage of particle sizes for its concentration measurement.  The sensors are pre-calibrated, drift-resistant and require very few maintenance.

Key Features

Measurement Principle:

Ultrasound backscattering ("accoustic backscattering) in the 3-8 Mhz range.

The proprietary OLPAS measurement technology covers a wide range of particle sizes (nanometer - millimeter) for concentratoin measurements.

Independence/insensitive:

No impact of changes in optical parameters

No impact of changes of fluid colour and fluid velocity
No impact from solids form and structure

Advantages

  1. The ultrasound OLPAS Technology provides a robust measurement that is not prone to changing water colour or other optical changes that are not relevant for the actual SSC (Suspended Sediment Concentration)

  2. Olpas sensors measure through fouling, requiring much less maintenance

  3. and no need for automated mechanical cleaning (no wipers, no pressured air)

  4. Due to the longer maintenance window, Olpas sensors can be installed on hard to reach locations (eg. in canals or in open nature), while still providing an economical measurement
